SECRETARY - Randa Reiff Shea

As an attorney, Randa Reiff Shea's specialty isn't exactly a specialty. You might say she specializes in diversity. But whatever case she's taking on, Randa handles it with the same determination and attention to detail, from pre-litigation through appeal. That determination serves her in other venues as well, as some of her greatest successes have been cases resolved outside the courtroom through arbitration or mediation. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Randa grew up in the Scottsdale area. She pursued economics at Stanford University, graduating in 1979. But her perspective was broadened considerably outside the classroom as well: Some of her best college experiences — academic and otherwise — emerged from a junior year in Paris, France. She returned to Arizona for law school, graduating from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1982.Contrary to her parents’ expectations — and perhaps her own — she moved to Las Vegas following graduation from law school. She joined Randy Patton and Niels Pearson in 1985 one year after the formation of their new firm. She became a partner in 1988 in that firm. Randa practiced insurance-related litigation with a special interest in medical malpractice defense in that and a break off firm. She also wove back into her days the strands of her former interests in plaintiff personal injury, collections and subrogation. Randa developed an itch for something else when she was age 55 with an empty nest. Randa opened a solo practice involving all the strands of her former interests in the fall of 2012 and continues that solo practice today. Randa has been a breast cancer survivor since 1994 and has been "fighting back" against all kinds of cancer by being an American Cancer Society volunteer since 1996. Randa first joined SNAWA in 1983 when she was admitted, but took a 20- plus year hiatus when her three sons were her top priority. Randa re-joined SNAWA some years ago, joining the Board a few years later, and now serves as SNAWA’s secretary.

Nadia von Magdenko, Esq., Personal Injury Attorney 624 S. 9th St. Las Vegas, NV 89101 | P: 702.385.1600 F: 702.385.1611 | The Road to Becoming a Lawyer: The story starts when I am 7 years old. I am living in Las Vegas with my family. One day I am with my older brother, who is 11 years old. My brother looks at me and says: “Okay, when we grow up, I will be the Doctor and you will be the Lawyer.” I say “Okay”. The matter is settled as only children can agree on such a thing. Fast forward to present day and my brother is a Doctor, working at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. I have my own personal injury law practice. My brother’s plan worked! When it was time to go to law school, the timing couldn’t have been better. I graduated from UNLV in the late ‘90s. At the time, Nevada didn’t have a law school. So, I was looking at law schools around the country. I found out that UNLV was opening a new law school and I applied. It turns out that I was the first student on the books. In 2000, UNLV’s Boyd Law graduated its first class of 5 newly minted law students, of which I was a part. I started out my legal career working at a family friendly insurance defense law firm. It was there that I learned about the law and how insurance companies put those injured under a microscope. I came to the realization that insurance companies treated people like numbers and believed that most people could not actually be injured in traumatic accidents. After this soul-sapping experience, I decided it was time to open my own law office. It is such a great feeling, helping people during the most difficult times of their lives. I now focus exclusively on personal injury matters, helping those who have been injured as a result of the carelessness of others. For me, it is an honor and privilege to be the voice from someone on their legal journey. I will make sure that when you hire me, I will guide you through the legal process. You will be well informed and taken care of along the way. What do I do when I am not standing up to insurance companies? I have lived in Las Vegas Valley almost my entire life and I love rock climbing with my family in the beautiful desert southwest.
